Cuban authorities have seized a hidden warehouse in Bauta municipality, which was storing food items and goods suspected to have been brought into the country illegally. This operation was highlighted on the pro-government Facebook page "Angerona de Cuba" and was the result of numerous public complaints about exorbitant prices in the area. The authorities were able to search a residence where they uncovered a network of alleged illicit economic activities.

During the raid, officers from the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) confiscated large quantities of sausages and chicken. Both of these items were semi-processed and stored without the necessary health certification. Additionally, 50 electric motorcycle tires were discovered, believed to have entered the country through illegal means, as detailed in the report.

Authorities also found documentation and evidence of illegal resale of these goods at prices significantly higher than the official rates. As a result, all the goods were seized, and a comprehensive investigation has been launched to trace the origins of the merchandise and identify potential accomplices or distribution networks. One individual involved was detained for allegedly engaging in illicit economic activities.

Last week, Cuba's Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz, criticized the disorganization within the non-state sector, the exorbitant pricing, and the lack of governmental oversight. He threatened to seize goods being sold at inflated prices on the island. Despite this, the regime fails to acknowledge its role in the inflation affecting Cubans, which stems from its own failed economic policies.
