The esteemed Cuban actor, Jorge Losada, who recently faced an emergency admission at Manuel Fajardo University Clinical Surgical Hospital in Havana, has now been discharged. According to a Facebook post by Luis Lacosta, the art director at the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC) and a close friend of Losada, the 91-year-old actor is back home.
"Jorge Losada is now at home. Thanks to the Fajardo Hospital and its brilliant and excellent medical staff, the scare they gave us has ended," Lacosta expressed on Wednesday afternoon, though he did not disclose what led to Losada's hospitalization. Prior to this, Lacosta had urgently requested A Positive blood donations for Losada, later noting that the actor's condition improved significantly following transfusions.
Lacosta shared on Facebook, "I've just been informed that Losada has greatly improved after the transfusions, and no more donations are necessary. I'll keep friends and fans updated on any developments." He also praised the "excellent" care provided by Fajardo Hospital.
In recent years, the acclaimed actor has faced various health challenges. Back in April 2024, Losada was hospitalized at the same facility due to complications from a hip prosthesis. He had been admitted with severe pain, and it was discovered that the prosthesis had dislocated.
