Authorities in Miami-Dade County have confirmed the arrest of 29-year-old Joy Chandra Nath, who is accused of murdering his former girlfriend, María Camila García Molina. The 24-year-old mother was found dead inside a car in the Hammocks area in the southwest part of the county. The discovery was made last Saturday after a neighbor found the victim's three-year-old daughter wandering alone in the Twin Lakes residential complex parking lot, with dried blood stains on her face and clothes.

Prompted by the alarming situation, the family quickly contacted the police. Upon arrival, officers discovered García Molina's body in the backseat of her vehicle, concealed under blankets. The young mother had suffered multiple stab wounds to her neck, torso, and limbs.

Investigation Unveils Critical Details

Detectives learned during the investigation that the victim had spent the morning with her daughter and Nath, having breakfast at a restaurant in Miami Lakes, as stated by the suspect himself. Nath was later seen returning to the crime scene with the car's lights off. Upon arrest, he claimed he was returning the victim's belongings, including her purse and cellphone. Officers observed that Nath had scratches on his arms, face, and neck.

Nath faces charges of second-degree murder and also child abuse without serious injury, due to the circumstances of how the young girl was found. María Camila's mother, Adalgisa Molina, revealed that her daughter had previously sought a restraining order against Nath due to harassment and threatening behavior. However, authorities denied the request, citing insufficient evidence, as Adalgisa recounted to Univision.

A History of Harassment

The young mother had earlier reported that her ex-partner was following and harassing her. Witnesses noted a verbal altercation between Nath, the victim, and her new boyfriend at Dolphin Mall just days before the tragic event. In a pivotal moment of the investigation, the victim's daughter told the officers she was with her mother and Nath. According to the police report, the child mentioned her mother was "sleeping" because "someone hit her on the head." This testimony was crucial in leading the search that discovered the body, as detailed by Univision Miami.

Joy Chandra Nath is currently held without bail at the Metro West Detention Center (MWDC). His first court appearance took place on Monday, April 28.

Family Seeks Support

Amidst their grief, García Molina's family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for funeral expenses and the care of her daughter. They have requested privacy as they navigate through this tragedy.
