On Saturday, a significant traffic accident in the Los Guayitos neighborhood of Río Cauto, Granma province, left at least three individuals injured, as reported by the local government on their Facebook page.

The accident transpired in the afternoon on the Bayamo - Las Tunas highway. A truck, originating from Camagüey and loaded with raw materials, was en route to Manzanillo when it lost control on its return journey. The vehicle was carrying 11 passengers, including three minors and the driver.

As a consequence of the crash, one person suffered a skull fracture, another sustained a cervical injury, and a third endured a hip fracture. Among the injured was the truck's driver.

Emergency medical services (SIUM) from Granma initially transported the injured to the Ernesto Guevara de la Serna Polyclinic in Vado del Yeso. They were subsequently transferred to the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Provincial Hospital in Bayamo for specialized care.

Preliminary technical assessments indicate that the loss of vehicle control during rainy conditions contributed to the crash, affecting the truck's traction on the wet asphalt, according to the government post.

Senior officials from both the Party and the Government of Granma province visited the hospital to oversee the medical care provided to the injured individuals.
