A well-known Cuban actor and YouTuber, Jonathan Montelongo, who goes by the moniker "Joh Wayne," has made serious allegations against a cultural official in Pinar del Río. Montelongo accuses the official of sexually harassing his younger brother, an aspiring singer who is still a minor.
Through social media, Montelongo identified the accused as Francisco Pérez, known in the region as "Francine," a worker within the cultural institution. According to Montelongo, Pérez has engaged in inappropriate behavior by making unwanted sexual advances towards his brother in exchange for opportunities in cultural events.
Allegations of Abuse and Harassment
Montelongo has described the situation as oppressive, stating that Pérez has made explicit threats following his brother's rejection of these advances. "This despicable man has decided to make my brother's life a living hell," Montelongo declared, citing Pérez's own words.
The accusations include claims that Pérez conditioned the young artist's chances to perform on sexual favors, allegedly telling him, "If you want to sing, I can make things easier for you."
Institutional Persecution and Intimidation
Montelongo further accused Francisco Pérez of launching a campaign to hinder his brother's budding career by penalizing those who offer him performance venues. "He has set out to prevent my brother from singing in private spaces by fining those who invite him," Montelongo noted.
The actor emphasized the gravity of the situation, highlighting that his brother is underage and labeling the actions of Pérez as an abuse of power with pedophilic overtones. "I REPEAT, my brother is a MINOR, and this man is a PED*PHILE abusing his power over artists in Pinar del Río," Montelongo asserted.
Holding Authorities Accountable
Montelongo held Francisco Pérez and the Ministry of Culture in Pinar del Río accountable for any emotional distress inflicted on his brother due to the harassment. "I hold this scum and the Ministry of Culture in Pinar del Río responsible for any psychological harm my brother suffers from the harassment and insinuations," he stated.
Finally, Montelongo explained that he went public with the accusations to safeguard his brother from afar, as he currently resides in the United States since 2024. "I am making this case public so there is a PUBLIC record, as it's the least I can do from outside Cuba, while my family will take steps to address it there," he concluded.
