A Cuban delivery driver found himself behind bars in South Miami following a heated altercation at a Taco Bell restaurant, sparked by frustrations over a delayed order. O. P. was taken into custody Monday night and is now facing charges including attempted robbery, trespassing, and property damage.

Order Delay Sparks Outrage

The South Miami Police report, referenced by local media, indicates the confrontation began when O. P. became visibly upset over the prolonged wait for his meal, which comprised a burrito and a quesadilla totaling $14.49. An employee recounted to officers that during the incident, he was in the process of serving another order valued at $21.41 to a different driver at the drive-thru window. It was at this point that O. P. reportedly lost his temper.

The report further details that the delivery driver grabbed the food bag from the employee's hands, causing its contents to spill across the floor.

Trespassing and Property Damage

The situation intensified when O. P., according to the same employee, broke the service window latch amid the turmoil. This action was categorized as property damage, one of the multiple charges the Cuban national is facing. Police were summoned to the scene at 11:20 p.m. on Monday, leading to O. P.'s arrest.

Records from the Miami-Dade County Sheriff's Office show that O. P. was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center shortly before 2:40 a.m. on Tuesday. Authorities have formally charged him with sudden violent robbery attempt, trespassing, and property damage.

During his court appearance on Tuesday, a county judge ordered O. P. to stay away from the Taco Bell employee, identified as the victim in this case. Additionally, the judge set a bail amounting to $3,500. As of the time of writing, no further details about the incident have been released.
