Yasmany Peñalver, a 33-year-old Cuban national, has been officially charged with multiple thefts at the same Marshalls store located at 901 East 10th Avenue in Hialeah, Miami-Dade County. Authorities report that these offenses, occurring between November and December 2024, form part of a systematic pattern of retail theft.

A Series of Carefully Executed Thefts

Local news sources reference the arrest report, which outlines the incidents beginning on November 15, 2024. On this date, Peñalver allegedly entered the store, concealed goods worth approximately $200, and exited without payment. However, this wasn’t a standalone incident. Police note that similar thefts were repeated at least five more times in a short span.

The alleged additional thefts took place on November 20, 23, 26, 30, and December 4. In each event, the value of the stolen items was also around $200, indicating a deliberate and consistent tactic by the suspect.

The Double Theft Incident on December 5

A particularly striking occurrence happened on December 5, when Peñalver reportedly committed theft twice within the same day at the same store. According to the police report, during his first visit that day, he stole merchandise valued at $92. He then returned approximately 45 minutes later, allegedly taking additional items worth $115.

This pattern not only strengthens the suspicion of premeditated activity but also demonstrates a bold attitude towards the store's security measures.

A Broader Criminal Background

In addition to the new retail theft charges, records show Peñalver was already in custody related to other offenses, specifically two charges of auto theft. While incarcerated, he received the extra charges tied to the incidents at Marshalls. Authorities have labeled Peñalver a "suspected serial thief" due to the frequency and similarity of these thefts. As of this report, Peñalver remains in custody, also detained by Immigration, according to his police record.
