Sandro Castro has emerged as a prominent figure among a new wave of Cuban elites—children and grandchildren of top officials—who flaunt their power with blatant arrogance, showcasing privileges that starkly contrast with the nation's harsh realities. On social media, they display a lifestyle filled with untouchable luxury, as if immune to laws, ethics, and the struggles of millions of Cubans.

True to this behavior, Sandro Castro once again demonstrated his arrogance by sharing an Instagram story on Monday. In the post, he is seen lounging on a large stack of Cristal beer cases, igniting immediate outrage across social networks. The image was captioned with the phrase: “Favorite place to wake up on a Monday,” a statement that highlights his provocative nature and lack of sensitivity toward a country engulfed in shortages, power outages, soaring inflation, and despair.

The backlash on social media was swift. Many users condemned the cynicism with which Sandro showcases his privileges during a profound crisis, where even basic items like beer are hard to come by for the average citizen. A user named Edmundo Dantés Junior, known for his satirical criticism of the Cuban regime's hypocrisies on Facebook, sarcastically remarked about how entrepreneurs face accusations of hoarding, yet Sandro Castro remains untouched. “Ready for the 1st of Hoarders... I mean of May,” he quipped.

Meanwhile, Cuban doctor Emilio Arteaga Pérez, now residing in Spain, took to Facebook to question, “What more must be done to make this people react?” Arteaga highlighted the contemptuous attitude often seen in Sandro Castro's posts, the untouchable grandson of the late Cuban dictator, Fidel Castro.

Just over a week ago, Sandro sparked another controversy by announcing on social media that he was giving away Cristal beers at his Havana bar, EFE, claiming that "this medicine cannot be missing." While the majority of Cubans endure a severe economic crisis, with power outages lasting up to 20 hours a day, and shortages of food and medicine, Sandro continues to flaunt a lavish and provocative lifestyle.

Last Friday, Sandro Castro once again displayed his arrogance and impunity. While many Cubans face fines, harassment, or even imprisonment for expressing critical views online, Fidel Castro's grandson openly mocked the Cuban people without facing any repercussions. He posted a video referring to a nonsensical “hydropene mode,” laughingly claiming it’s a liquid that alters the brain and makes one want to say “pene, pene, pene, pene...”
