The woman reacted by screaming and defending herself, which caused the suspect—whose nationality remains undisclosed—to release her and flee on a light blue bicycle. According to the police, the victim's quick response prevented further assault and enabled witnesses to provide crucial information.
Surveillance footage showed the suspect riding the bicycle and carrying a purple bag. Investigators later discovered the bike abandoned near the intersection of Southwest 138th Street and 77th Avenue, supporting the theory that the suspect had fled on foot after the attack.
Figueroa-Hernández was captured on March 9 at a Palm Beach County hospital, although the reason for his presence there remains unclear.
