A man from Palma Soriano identified as Leonel Naranjo González has tragically died in Santiago de Cuba after accidentally ingesting acid. Local journalist Yosmany Mayeta reported on Facebook that the incident occurred in the 27 de Noviembre neighborhood of Palma Soriano. The victim, known as "Chungo," accidentally drank from a bottle of acid that had been stored in his refrigerator.

"He came home thirsty, went to the fridge, and mistakenly grabbed a bottle of acid instead of water," said a close source. The man, who was involved in business dealings, passed away shortly after the incident.

Yuleydis Benitez, a friend of Chungo, expressed her shock on Facebook over his sudden death, mentioning that she had just greeted him a day earlier.

Such accidents are not uncommon in Cuba, particularly involving children who mistakenly ingest bleach or other harmful substances. Last year, a Cuban family was seeking help for a young girl who had consumed acid and had been waiting years for surgery, hampered by the lack of available surgeons on the island.

Georgina Rosillo shared the heartbreaking story of her great-niece, Jade Stefani Mendoza González, who at the age of two accidentally ingested acid. Now, at almost 11 years old, Jade can only be fed through tubes as she is unable to eat by mouth.
