Mailén Díaz Almaguer, the sole survivor of the devastating 2018 plane crash in Havana, Cuba, has reaffirmed her unwavering faith in Jesus. At 25, she shared a heartfelt message on her Facebook wall, expressing how her Christian faith has been her anchor through the numerous challenges she has faced.

"Surrendered to the feet of Jesus and enamored with His works," she wrote, just days after the six-year anniversary of the Cubana de Aviación plane crash near Havana's airport, which claimed the lives of 112 people, including her husband.

In another post, she joyfully asked, "Heat = I braid my hair. Who's joining me?" Her posts received over 200 supportive and loving comments.

"Your testimony inspires and uplifts. May the Lord continue to bless you powerfully," read one comment. Others echoed similar sentiments: "A testimony worthy of love," "Your dedication to Jesus is beautiful; there's no better path than the one you've chosen," and "You are a warrior."

Earlier this January, Mailén sent blessings to her followers via social media. "Happy New Year! May the Lord bless you," she posted on her Facebook wall.

Mailén has shown incredible resilience, serving as an inspiration to thousands of Cubans who admire her spirit and strength. After the tragic accident, which resulted in the loss of her first husband and left her with a leg amputation and severe physical impairments, she endured a challenging recovery process.

Throughout this time, she has called for justice for those who lost their lives in the crash. "It breaks my heart to think that due to others' negligence, so many injustices occur. God is just, but I have faith that those responsible will be held accountable. (...) I am among those still fighting for justice in memory of all our lost loved ones," she wrote last year.

Originally from Holguín, Mailén now resides in Havana, having purchased a home with the compensation she received. She lives in the Siboney neighborhood, Playa municipality, near the clinic where she receives medical care.

In 2022, she publicly denounced the authorities for abandoning her and requested help to obtain medication and supplies necessary for her treatment. "I struggle just like everyone else," she clarified in a live broadcast, explaining that she lacked gloves and lubricant for the intermittent catheter she needs to use multiple times a day, as she cannot urinate on her own.

She also mentioned the difficulty in obtaining Nitrofurantoin, a urinary antiseptic she must take daily to prevent infections. "I'm tired of making daily calls. It's very sad to have to worry about making countless calls to secure lubricant or the right caliber catheter, and not having peace of mind," she lamented.
