"Vivir del Cuento" Returns to Cuban Television in July

The highly anticipated return of the popular comedy show "Vivir del Cuento" to Cuban television is set for July, as confirmed by Luis Silva, the actor who portrays the beloved character Pánfilo. This week, Silva shared a video on Instagram, performing a sketch in a public restroom. In the comments, he wrote, "the thing is for July," responding to the many fans inquiring about the show's return.

"Greetings to everyone who has commented. And for those asking when 'Vivir del Cuento' starts, the thing is for July. Good things for everyone," Silva's full message on social media read.

Fans Celebrate the Return

The announcement of the show's return date was met with celebration from many, following over a year of absence. "Vivir del Cuento" is closely followed both within and outside of Cuba for its sharp take on the country's current issues.

In March and April, Marlon Pijuán, a member of the show's cast, shared some moments from the filming of the comedy show on Instagram, hinting that the new season will offer "a bit of everything."

"We'll bring you a bit of everything because there's plenty to create from," wrote Pijuán, who plays the character Isidoro, suggesting that the current Cuban reality, laden with problems like the deepening economic crisis, inflation, and migration, provides ample inspiration. "There's plenty of 'Vivir del Cuento' to come," he emphasized.

The television program "75 grados Oeste", from Cubavisión Internacional, visited the set of "Vivir del Cuento" in early May and obtained some statements from the cast members.

"We're going to have an episode where I go viral," Silva said, referring to social media. "In another episode, I plant a garden for the neighbors, which gets complicated when the plants start flying away."

"In another episode, we have a neighbor who's becoming a citizen of another country. You know that's happening now, I don't know why," Silva added, hinting that they will tackle the topic of migration and the trend of many Cubans obtaining Spanish nationality with their trademark incisive humor. "Hot episodes are coming, and I know people will enjoy them," he stressed.

Meanwhile, Pijuán mentioned that with the character of Isidoro, he feels more representative of the common people, "the everyday Cuban."

"My character is gay, and it's a tribute I make to all my friends," the actor said, emphasizing that with "Isidoro," he aims to send the message that it doesn't matter if you're homosexual, but rather that you're a good person.
