Cuban pitcher Jonathan Carbó, aged 26, has landed in the Dominican Republic aiming to secure a contract with the Major Leagues following his recent expulsion from an Italian league team. The news of his arrival in the Dominican Republic was shared on social media by sports journalist Francys Romero, who noted that Carbó "has the potential to secure a signing," describing him as a "starter with a fastball ranging between 91-94 MPH."

Carbó previously represented Team Cuba in various events including the Under-23 World Championship (2021) and was on the preliminary roster for the World Baseball Classic. In his last National Series, he recorded a 5-5 record with a 2.59 ERA and 60 strikeouts over 90.1 innings, Romero detailed.

During his career in Cuba, Carbó participated in nine National Series, achieving 33 wins and 41 losses, according to Swing Completo. The young pitcher, previously contracted to Italian team BBC Grosseto, was expelled from the club last week due to severe disciplinary breaches.

"Jonathan Carbó behaved inappropriately towards the club and his teammates, leaving us no choice but to expel him," said Filippo Olivelli, the sports director of the team, who did not provide further details on the incidents leading to this decision. Carbó's second stint with Grosseto lasted only two days.

Born in November 1997, Carbó was first signed by BBC Grosseto Spirulina Becagli in the winter of 2022 to compete in the poule scudetto, where the team finished fourth under the management of Jairo Ramos Gizzi.

As of the end of this report, no further details about Carbó's situation in Italy have been disclosed. The exodus of Cuban baseball players continues unabated across all levels.

In recent months, several players have left Cuban baseball, including Leandro Guerra, Yandro Guerra, Jorge Luis Manzolo, Luis Enrique Gurriel, and Yordan Rodríguez Peña, among others.
