AIDS on the rise in Cuban youth, Officials state

HAVANA - Cuban health authorities have warned of a dramatic rise in AIDS cases among the young on the island, where there over 1,300 new HIV infections in 2008 and another 1,400 are estimated for this year.Cubans aged 19 to 24 are at the greatest risk of infection, said Jorge Perez, deputy director of the Tropical Medicine Institute in Havana, warning of the dangers of unprotected sex. No Cuba trip for prosecutors the judge said

Prosecutors wanted to take statements from Otto Rene Rodriguez Llerena and Francisco Chavez Abarca, both of whom have accused Posada Carriles of involvement in a string of bombings in Havana in 1997 and 1998. Cuba's key tourism sector up in 2010, with number of visitors rising 4 per cent from last year

HAVANA - Cuba says its crucial tourism sector is looking up, with the number of visitors rising 4 per cent in 2010. The official Prensa Latina news agency says some 2.5 million people visited the Caribbean island this year. That compares with about 2.4 million in 2009.
