Doctor of Science and son of Cuban ex-president, said that about 160 institutions and sectors of Organisms of the Central Government Administration use nuclear techniques and radioactive sources and that these figures were the results of the Program of technical cooperation and training of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
According to Diaz-Balart, these investigations have allowed to treat a large number of issues in economic and social sectors, with emphasis on areas of health such as radiotherapy, nuclear medicine and technology services to the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.
Likewise, he explained that the environmental studies for the sugar industry, design and construction of equipment are also been benefiting from nuclear and radioactive applications, through the analysis of natural zeolites, grains, metals and superconductors.
