To counter the shortage of water that exists in the town of La Maya, Santiago de Cuba, it is performing a new water pipeline that runs from Joturo dam to the distribution tank of that locality.

The pipe has 11 kilometers of high density polyethylene (HDPE), which are already mounted 4.5km, with a diameter of 400 millimeters. Base Business Unit (BSU) Guantanamo, belonging to the Company Maintenance and Rehabilitation of Water Works East is responsible for the work.

This new pipeline will eliminate constant leaks and breaks in the current cement pipe in poor condition. It also will benefit more than 25,000 people in the county by shorten the current delivery cycle that is longer than 20 days. 

Attached to this investment will work in the maintenance of pumping stations and installation of new equipment.

In addition to the pipeline of La Maya, currently it’s running the rehabilitation of water system supply to the city of Palma Soriano, who also conceived the sewer.
