Cuba''s National Ballet (BNC) will premiere three works by the prima ballerina, Alicia Alonso, during the 23rd edition of the International Ballet Festival of Havana, to be held from next October 28 to November 7.

  Thanks to the Alonso's tireless creative energy, fans of ballet in Havana will enjoy in autumn choreographic versions of pastoral opera Acis and Galatea by Georg Friedrich Handel; La Destrucción del danzante (The destruction of the dancer), a tribute to Cuban writer Virgilio Piñera, and the duo entitled Nosotros (We), with music of Fryderyk Chopin, BNC sources reported here.

Alicia Alonso is also the artistic director of Acis and Galatea, in which performance will participate BCN dancers, soloists from the Opera de Cuba and the National Association of Concert, Camerata Vocal and Sine Nomine, among other artists.

The designs for this work will be in charge of Italian and Cuban Brotto Agostino Frank Alvarez.

In the centenary of the poet, playwright and writer Virgilio Piñera, the director and founder of BNC conceived, with music of Brazilian Heitor Villa-Lobos, this dramatic solo, The destruction of the dancer, inspired by a poem titled precursor of the absurd theater in the field of Spanish language.

A melody of Chopin, in version for violin and piano by Nathan Milstein, dictate the tempo and choreographic nuances of We, a romantic story about a dancer who tested alone, while a colleague observes.

But when he decides to help in a difficult ballet step, both understand that binds something deeper than friendship.
