Pope Benedict XVI has expressed deep gratitude for the hospitality and attentions he received during his unforgettable visit to Cuba, in a letter addressed to President Raul Castro published Friday by Granma newspaper.

"I reciprocate the exquisite hospitality extended to me in unforgettable days spent in your country with a unique remembrance in prayer, pleading the Almighty for Cuba to continue moving forward with determination in the path of freedom, solidarity and harmony, for the common good and progress of all of its sons and daughters," said the Pontiff in his letter.

The Holy Father concludes the note with a special blessing to all Cubans.
