Is hopes to open a new link tourism to the Netherlands, Germany, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe, opens on Monday when an airline KLM direct from Amsterdam Havana, said Wednesday the Ministry of Tourism of Cuba.

"These flights will help to increase visitor arrivals from Scandinavia, Russia, other Eastern European countries, Germany, UK and Holland," said a statement from the ministry, according to the National Information Agency (AIN).

With three times a week, Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, KLM will be held in MD 11 aircraft with 285 seats, 261 economy class and 24 for businesses.

Holland is the ninth largest source of tourists to Cuba and from January to September this year have visited the island more than 24,000 holiday-makers of the nation, according to official figures.

Cuba expects to receive this year a record 2.7 million tourists will also enhance the activity as the second most important to the economy of the island, after the sale of professional services, primarily physicians.

According to the website of the Ministry of Tourism, 17 international companies fly to Cuba, including Air-France, Iberia, Air-Europe, American Airlines, Lufthansa Airlines, United Airlines, Martinair, Continental Airlines and Air Transat.
