Luanda - Former students at "Carlos Manuel dos Céspedes" Higher Pedagogical Institute (ISP), based in Youth Island, Cuba, have recognised the commitment, determination and dedication showed by the Cuban State during their training.

The recognition was presented Saturday in Luanda by the head of the group of the Angolan students, Jesus Baptista, at the opening session of a ceremony marking their 20th anniversary.

Under the strategic view of the Angolan government, in particular that of the president José Eduardo dos Santos, a tripartite agreement was signed among the States of Angola, Cuba and Zimbabwe in 1986, providing for a massive training of higher education teachers.

Comprising 78 graduates, the group integrated Angolan teachers, who attended training on the Island in order to improve the education in Angola.

The commemoration also served to pay tribute to the deceased students at the time, the awarding of prizes to Cuban teachers, cultural event and a get-together diner.

The session was attended by ministers of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Maria Cândida Teixeira, Education, Pinda Simão, Cuban teachers, Angolans and politicians.
