By: Indira Santana. 29 de julio de 2011, 17:30Havana, Jul 29 (Prensa Latina) Cuban film Habanastation by novice filmmaker Ian Padron, had its USA premiere in a packed house at the International Transverse Film Festival. The audience acclaimed the movie with a standing ovation.

In statements to Prensa Latina via Internet, Padron said there was laughter and tears in the Hockstand Lars Auditorium, where U.S. movie maker Michael Moore, who is the Festival's president, presented the film.

Padron thanked the invitation by Moore, who said that Habanastation is a universal film because of the human values it exposes. The young Cuban film maker was allowed by the U.S. authorities to travel to attend the event together with actress Blanca Rosa Blanco. The two presided over the presentation of the film.

With wit and humor, Padron, 35, takes the viewer on a journey of two different Havanas within the same city, to highlight how two children from different backgrounds engage in a profound friendship.

Habanastation is the only Cuban film to be exhibited in the Transverse Festival, which closes Sunday.

The film has been a smashing success in Cuba where thousands of movie fans have packed the theaters.
