In an interview with Prensa Latina, Carlos Alberto Cremata, director of the company, said that the company will perform in Washington, New York and San Francisco.

"We will present two works, one of them has been very successful: Cinderella according to the Beatles, the other is our last production, Abracadabra," said Cremata.

The US audience may evaluate "how our children see an Anglo-Saxon group like the Beatles that has a great importance in that country and our perception of Cinderella," he added.

Cremata said that Abracadabra "deals especially with the issue of Cuban pedagogy" and that reflection is transferred to a school where "a young teacher rethinks concepts about how to give lessons and learn to discover the essence of things."

The Colmenita visited the United States for the first time in March 2003 on a tour aruond several cities in California.

"We received many tokens of love and affection from the audience in the USA. There is where La Colmenita has more friends," said Cremata mentioning among them the renowned actors Danny Glover and Harry Belafonte, as well as therapy doctor, Patch Adams.

After this tour, the company that was founded on February 14, 1990, has pending projects in Qatar, Kuwait and Algeria, but the most important is the emergence of new companies like the Colmenita in the international context, Cremata said.

"In August, two Argentine actors who were training in Cuba will found in Buenos Aires, Argentina, a Colmenita company and after that they will found a similar group in Chiapas, Mexico, which will be an interesting experience," said Cremata.

There are similar companies in Venezuela, Colombia and La Colmenita in the Dominican Republic and the Canary Islands (Spain) that are already reaping their first results.

In 2007, La Colmenita received the distinction of Goodwill Ambassador of UNICEF Cuba, and it is the only children's theater group to have received such recognition so far.
