Scratch Cuba Off the Bucket List With These New Cuba Tours

In 1999, President Clinton implemented People to People, an initiative that allows Americans to travel to Cuba, as long as they take part in cultural experiences, putting them in direct contact with the locals in the hope of learning more about the people and customs of the country. Americans will now be able to experience Cuba’s beautiful culture, breathtaking sights, and timeless history by visiting places like Havana, Viñales, Las Terrazas, Matanzas, Cienfuegos, Trinidad and more! If Cuba is somewhere you have been anxious to visit, here's what is available.

Luxury tour operator, Abercrombie and Kent, was the first to announce that they are working with the Foundation for Caribbean Studies to offer six trips to Cuba this fall, called Globus tours also announced a Cuba tour for 2012, under their religious tours division, partnering with the non-profit agency California based Center for Caribbean Religion & Culture.

The eight day tour is called Cuba: A Spiritual, Historical and Cultural Journey. Travelers will spend 8 days in Havana at the Melia Cohiba Resort, with day trips to surrounding areas. Although they are still putting the finishing touches, we know that tour highlights include a walking tour of Old Havana, a visit to El Templete where the first Catholic Mass was held nearly 500 years ago, and a local dinner with a drive in a 1950’s car.

Price includes transportation via motorcoach, a tour director, hotel accommodations, some meals and sightseeing. The tour will operate dates January through May 2012 and then again September through December, priced from $2,889 pp based on double occupancy. There is an early booking promotion available that will save consumers $200 pp if they book before the end of September. Full tour details will be released on August 10th, and reservations will also open that day.
