2011.07.15 - 17:41:09 / radiorebelde.icrt.cu. Guantanamo, Cuba.-  Eleven-year old boy, Orlenis Perez Larrea, from the eastern Cuban province of Guantanamo is recovering satisfactorily after going through an emergency surgery in the “Pedro Agustin Perez” paediatrics hospital due to an accident.

Surgeon German Azaharez Leal noted that Orlenis was admitted in the hospital last Sunday after falling from a mule in a place of difficult access called El Caro; as a result he got an intercostal cut from where part of his lung emerged.

The boy was taken in a journey on mules backthrough the Canasta mountain range that lasted "four long hours" according to his mother, to a clinic where he received first aid treatment Azaharez explained that the fact that the boy’s lungs did not suffer any damage constitutes a positive element for his recovery. He added that fortunately during the accident part of the lung went out through the wound and prevented blood and air from entering in the lungs cavity.

The doctor extolled the work of the staff of the hospital and the policlinic of La Yaya, which assisted the boy prior to his transfer to Guantanamo city. He assured that the patient is having a positive recovery and affirmed that he would be soon discharged from hospital.

Orlenis’ mother, Enma Larrea, expressed ACN her gratitude for the attention and care her son has received in this hospital.
