As part of a push to boost homebuilding and renovation by involving the private sector, the ministry of construction (MICONS) certified privately owned building material companies in Havana province, official news service AIN reported.

The idea is to inform private company owners about quality standards for building materials sold to private homeowners. Many of the bricks and tiles produced by self-employed Cubans don’t adhere to official norms, according to AIN.
