13:26, July 05, 2011. Bolivia's military chief arrived in Cuba Monday for a five-day visit to boost bilateral military relations.

"Bolivia and Cuba are united by a long history, and they should have a more continuous exchange between their armed forces," Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Armando Pacheco Gutierrez said upon his arrival at the Caribbean island.

"We are brothers in all areas, so we must develop a sincere friendship between our armed forces," said Pacheco, who is on his second official visit to Cuba. He is accompanied by Pedro Mendiondo Gomez, head of Bolivia's Air Defense and Air Force.

Pacheco is scheduled to meet with his Cuban counterpart, Alvaro Lopez Miera.

Cuba and Bolivia have enhanced their bilateral relations significantly since Bolivia's President Evo Morales took office in 2006, and the two countries have signed a number of cooperation agreements, mostly in the fields of health and education.
