HAVANA, CUBA.- Cuban boxers concluded their participation in a Pan American Games qualifier held in the Venezuelan city of Cumana on a high note as the eight finalists of the Caribbean nation walked away with titles and their tickets secured for the Pan Am Games scheduled for Guadalajara, Mexico, later this year.

The Cuban gold medalists were Robeisis Ramirez, Lazaro Alvarez, Yasniel Toledo, Rosniel Iglesias, Emilio Correa, Julio Cesar Leal, Leinier Perot and Erislandy Savon.

The other crowns up for grabs were for Dominican Juan Medina and Venezuelan Gabriel Mestre.

The Cuban representatives in these two categories, Yorman Rodriguez and Arisnoide Despaigne, were eliminated and they failed to qualify in this event for the Pan Am Games.

The next boxing qualifier for the continental meeting in Guadalajara is scheduled to begin on April 30 in Quito, Ecuador.

The tournament of Cumana, attended by boxers from 23 countries, granted 37 tickets for the Pan American Games. (ACN)
