The Explanade of the Ministries of Brasilia, which turned 50 years old last April 21, is ready to receive about 70,000 people who will take part in the different inauguration-related activities.

According to the official program, the ceremony will start at 14:30 hours (local time) with a parade in a convertible car through different areas of the Explanade of the Ministries.

Apart from the ministry buildings, that area of the capital also includes the headquarters of the three powers, the Brasilia Cathedral, the National Museum, and the National Theater, among others.

As it is the first time in the history of Brazil that a woman will be president, the Palmares Cultural Foundation, charged with organizing the cultural activities linked to the inauguration, prepared a program to honor Brazilian women.

Photographs of 36 prominent Brazilian women with a brief biography on large-size panels will be on display on the sites the president-elect will pass on her way to Planalto Palace, where she will receive the ceremonial sash from the hands of Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

Following this, Rousseff will address the Brazilian people as the first woman president of this South American nation.
