Tuesday marked two months of confinement for the 33 miners trapped 700 meters deep in a collapsed mine in northern Chile.

Since August 5, the 32 Chileans and a Bolivian were buried by a collapse in the San Jose mine, located in the Atacama Desert, 800 kilometers north from the capital.

The most advanced drill used in the rescue process, the T-130 had dug as close as 200 meters to the miners on Monday, but the exit tunnel diameter still needs to be widened.

The powerful oil drilling machine, RIG-421, halted its operations because it strayed off the path. After having dug more than 230 meters, it had to be repositioned.
