NUEVA GERONA, CUBA.- The novel La tienda de nadie earned Cuban writer Elena Beatriz Corujo the prize of the Libresa 2010 International Contest on Juvenile Literature.

 Corujo, who lives in the Isle of Youth special municipality, told ACN that the work, of some 100 pages, focuses on the experiences and many vicissitudes of the main character, an adolescent girl of a dysfunctional family.

Libresa is an Ecuadorian publishing company, the heir of a tradition linking it to the world of books, education and culture since 1927.

 The author was born in 1958 in Mayajigua, Sancti Spíritus province, and lives in this special municipality, where she works as a scriptwriter and director of programs for the local Islavisión television station. She’s now writing La casa azul, another text for adolescents, this time inspired in the solidarity shown in times of hurricanes.

 She has also written the books Coralita querida and Al pon mundo se juega así (novels for children); Mayo es la primavera and Dicotomía (books of décimas or ten-syllable verses); Con gesto irreparable (poems); Garabatos y palomas (poems for children)  and Isla de Pinos: tesoros y leyendas (vignettes.)
