The renowned play Las pericas by Cuban Nicolas Dorr will be staged by the Ensayo-Gestus theater company in the city of Guayaquil, Ecuador, on July 23, with the presence of its author.

This is an adaptation by Ecuadorian dramatist Virgilio Valero, in which the old ladies "the so-called Pericas" will be interpreted by male actors, an initiative of Uruguay's Teatro Eslabon company, which presented the play in Buenos Aires, Montevideo and Canelones.

Another play by Dorr, Confesion en el Barrio Chino (Confession in Chinatown) has been staged by the Puerto Rican troop Teatro Rodante, directed by famed Miriam Colon, one of the most important Latin American theatrists in New York.

This is the first time Teatro Rodante presents a play by a Cuban author since its foundation in 1967.
