Sancti Spiritus’ XIV City Salon prizes Juan Andres Rodríguez “El Monje” were granted on occasion of this Cuban city’s 496 foundation anniversary. Collateral prizes were granted by different institutions to almost all 40 participants to the event.

The XIV City Salon prizes Juan Andres Rodríguez “El Monje” were granted Thursday in Sancti Spiritus within the framework of the celebrations on occasion of this Cuban city’s 496 foundation anniversary.

The traditional art prize was awarded to Yasiel Elizagaray’s “La caza” (The hunting).

Angel Luis Méndez won the contemporary art prize with “Utopia” (Utopia) while Rigell Ramos was recipient of the photography prize with “El café de cada noche” (Every night’s coffee).

Collateral prizes were granted by different institutions to almost all 40 participants to the event. Their works will be exhibited in Sancti Spiritus’s Oscar Fernandez Morera art gallery until June 30th.

According to Jorge Luis López, president of the Regional Plastic Arts Council, 55 works were accepted for contest this year from both renowned and amateur artists.
