The 1st Ibero-American Congress of Gender, Education, Health and Human Development, will be held in Havana from June 9 to 11, reported Doctor Alicia Gonzalez, president of the Organizing Committee.

Renowned national and foreign experts will attend and debate on several subjects such as policies, paradigms and actions of educational intervention in the sector, the Cuban expert pointed out in a press conference.

Among the most outstanding foreign experts attending the gathering are Marcela Lagarde, professor of the Autonomous University of Mexico, Félix López, outstanding psychologist of the University of Salamanca and Ana Feixas, of the University of Cordova, both in Spain, Gonzalez explained.

Cuban outstanding specialists will also participate, sexologists, and others who will deliver interesting lectures or lead roundtable discussions, she added.

Gonzalez pointed out there will be debates on controversial issues such as sexuality, education and disability, religion, gender and sexuality, violence, reproductive health, prevention of infections of sexual transmission and AIDS.

Other topics will be family and gender perspective, formation of human resources, gender and education, among others.

She underlined that books and specialized videos will be presented, as well as an exhibition of paintings, in which works of eight artists will be on display.

The Congress that will run parallelly to the 4th Ibero-American Workshop on Sexual Education and Orientation for Life, has the auspice of the Spanish agency of international cooperation and development, the United Nations Fund for Population (UNFPA), and the UNESCO.
