Exporting-to-Cuba workshop scheduled June 16 in San Antonio

"This conference is designed to provide the information, education and contacts to facilitate the export of food, agricultural commodities and forestry products to Cuba," said Dr. Parr Rosson, AgriLife Extension economist and director of the Center for North American Studies at Texas A&M University.
The conference will help producers, ranchers, agribusiness, export service providers, banks and government officials "better understand and reach the Cuban export market," Rosson said.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. followed by opening remarks by Kyle Burns,president and chief executive officer of the San Antonio Free Trade Alliance.
Jonathan Brown, professor with the Institute for Latin American Studies at the University of Texas, will discuss "Where is Cuba Headed?" followed by Rosson,who will present, "The Cuban Market for Food and Agricultural Products."
Cynthia Thomas, president of TriDimension Strategies, will discuss doing business with Cuba. A panel discussion will follow, featuring Rosalee Coleman of the Independent Cattlemen's Association, Pat Wallesen of WestStar Food Co. and Michael Perez of the Port of Corpus Christi. Leigh Phillips of Biehl and Co.will moderate the panel discussion.
Ernest Bezdek with the Port of Beaumont, will give a report on a recent Texas trade mission to Cuba during the noon hour.
