The program of the event begins on Friday with working meetings among the 860 delegates attending the congress. On Saturday, they will also hold discussions in working commissions and finally, on Sunday, they will meet in a plenary session.
Participants will analyze ways to introduce new mechanisms leading to an increase in the production of, for instance, pork, milk, rice and other crops, and the efficient use of human, technical and material resources.
May 17 was established as Farmers’ Day in Cuba in honor of Niceto Perez, a farmer killed in 1946. Also on May 17, Cuba celebrates another anniversary of the promulgation of the First Agrarian Reform and the foundation of ANAP.
