Brazils National Health Agency authorized production of a vaccine against the influenza A H1N1
Brazilian epidemiologist Expedito Luna said the Butantan Institute of Sao Paulo, developer of 80 percent of the vaccines used in Brazil, is collaborating with the World Health Organization in the research.

He added that if the chosen strain is approved, the lab will start cultivation and run field tests in a period from four to six months.

If the vaccine is finally developed, said Luna, the Butantan Institute has the conditions to engage in large-scale production and even export the product.
