Gibara, Holguin, “Rafael Freyre”, Báguano, Banes, Cacocum, Mayari and Moa are included in the project. To date Gibara and Holguin are most advanced, because their building works are nearing completion, despite the lack of funding for the purchase of woodwork has caused delays.

Some 33 educational centers, including a High School, 12 day care centers and 20 elementary schools included in plan have been completed. Their financing was in dollars, granted by the National Ministry of Education to the eastern provinces.

Along with the Special Plan for the construction of new educational centres is the maintenance of the 34 centres which were remodelled by the Battle of Ideas program, the construction of new classrooms, replacement of carpentry and roofs and the remodelling of a day care centre among others.
