Del Valle also pointed out that the theme of the event will be Integration and Resistance in the Global Era, and that there will be pieces by over 200 Cuban creators, who will present some 400 exhibits characterized by works of authors from different generational and aesthetic tendencies.
Cultural activities have also been scheduled, like dance and musical performances, as well as a theoretical event at the National Museum of Fine Arts, slated for March 31.
The Biennial will also include the circulation of publications, like the general catalogue, three special newspapers on Cuban Art, a map with the location of exhibits, a book with the best of critical thinking from former editions of the event, and tabloids on collateral exhibitions.
Some of the special guests will be Colombian Fernell Franco, Argentinean León Ferrari, South African Sue Williamson, Uruguayan Luís Camnitzer, Puerto Rican Pepón Osorio, Japanese Shigeo Fukuda, Brazilian Paulo Bruscky, Canadian Hervé Fischer, and Mexican Guillermo Gómez Peña.
Collective projects are another attractive aspect of the event, including those of China; Contemporary art review, Latitudes: lands of the world, Tales from the New World, Meeting Point, and Lasa Context Art Project.
