Herman Van-Hoof, representative of the UN Education, Science and Culture Organization (UNESCO) in Cuba, traveled to the island's central locality for the proclamation, and congratulated the Cuban government and people of Camaguey.

The Offices Network of the country's Historian and Keeper was officially presented Monday, coinciding with the founding of the ancient village.

Eusebio Leal, president of the Monuments Commission in Cuba and Havana City historian, attended the event.

The island's historians and keepers agreed by late 2008 to create the network to develop concrete cooperation projects among offices, exchanges and criteria, and favor clear communication.

The initiative was issued during the celebration Tuesday of the 495th anniversary of the foundation of the village.
