Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin meets with Cuban President Raul Castro
The meeting takes place at the Government headquarters after official talks with statesman Dmitri Medvedev at the Kremlin.

Nine documents were inked Friday in the presence of the heads of State, in addition to 24 accords signed during the Ninth Intergovernmental Commission for Economic, Commercial, and Scientific-Technical Collaboration.

Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin and Cuban Council of Ministers vice president Ricardo Cabrisas, presided over the commission and inked the Final Act of the ninth session, run in Moscow January 22-24.

Medvedev and Raul Castro also signed the Memorandum of the Principles of Strategic Collaboration between both countries, an important testimony of the level reached in bilateral links.

Raul Castro's previous visit to Russia was in 1985 and this is the first as a Head of State.

Summing up results of negotiations at the request of the Russian-Cuban joint commission, the government vicepresident Igor Sechin told press that the economic-trade cooperation is appropriate for the current nature of links.

Sechin highlighted the agreements inked in transportation, electro-energy, biotechnology, pharmaceutical industry, education, sports and culture.

He mentioned the concession to Cuba of free food aid destined to the island's most affected provinces after the path of three powerful hurricanes.

This includes a first shipmernt of 25,000 tons of wheat and another of nearly 100,000 tons.

Raul Castro will end his official visit to Russia on February 4.
