In the leading roles were Viengsay Valdes and Romel Frómeta who masterly played Odette-Odile and Prince Siegfried in a version of the choreography by prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso.

Thousands of people attended the performance on Monday evening, which was danced on a natural colonial stage under the stars accompanied by the music composed by Tchaikovsky. Among the audience were Cuban Vice- President Carlos Lage Davila, the Head of the International Relations Department of the Cuban Communist Party Fernando Remirez de Estenoz, and Alicia Alonso.

Guests, including international tourists in a restaurant near the stage left their plates on the table and rushed to the balconies to watch the ballet, while neighbors living on buildings surrounding the plaza did not miss the chance to watch the classic live from home.
