The event is organized by the Cuban Friendship Institute (ICAP) and will be hosted by the Expo-Holguin Exhibit and Conference Center.
Participants will demand the release of Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero, Rene Gonzalez, Fernando Gonzalez and Ramon Labañino, better known as the Cuban Five. Relatives of the Five will take part in the event via the Internet. An exhibit of paintings by Antonio Guerrero will be displayed at the Conference Center.
The Cuban Five were framed and arrested by FBI agents in 1998. Following a biased trial held in the U.S. city of Miami, they were given harsh sentences. Their only "crime" had been to collect information on South Florida-based ultra-right, anti-Cuba terrorist organizations.
