The two leaders recognized the positive developments in bilateral relations in various fields, and discussed matters of regional, multilateral and international interest.
Castro talked about the main challenges facing Cuba, especially the progress around hurricane recovery efforts.
De Silva Lula expressed his government’s willingness to continue contributing hurricane relief assistance, which was one of the main objectives of this trip – his second to Cuba this year. He also re-extended the invitation to the Cuban president to visit Brazil and to attend the Summit of Latin America and the Caribbean on Integration and Development, set for December 16 and 17 in Salvador, the capital of the state of Bahia.
