That was the adjective that the Minister of Culture, Abel Prieto Jiménez, used to qualify the role carried out by the Hermanos Saíz Association (HAS) within Cuban culture during its 22 years of life.
Exclusively for JR, the member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee also said last night that the HAS, founded on October 18, 1986, has been a real vanguard organization. For example, he said, it has played a primordial role in denouncing the pervasive foreign cultural models that we have imported. In that field it has truly had a voice, a force, an exceptional depth.
The interview with Abel Prieto took place moments after having inaugurated the Audiovisual Producer of the AHS and a surfing room, as well as having attended the presentation of the young Cuban art web site (www.ahs.cu) and the Kewelta digital cultural billboard (www.kewelta.cu).
After presiding over the presentation concert of the Raspadura con ajonjolí disk, where fifteen very new artists performed, the Minister of Culture stressed the effort carried out by the Association to defend a song «that doesn't encourage alienation in people, frivolity and foolishness, but presents its own identity».
Raspadura... is an example that we don't have pretexts to continue promoting the pseudo-culture, but rather our main commitment has to be to continue to diffuse and promote songs as valuable as those.
