In Cuba Runners from More Than 25 Countries to Attend in 22sd Marabana International Marathon
Organizers of the most important marathon in Cuba said for the first time foreign runners interested in participating in the competition are able to submit their applications online.

According to preliminary estimates, the number of international runners is expected to be as high as in 2007, when athletes from more than 41 countries traveled to Havana for the race.

“We have kept a good level of communications with international runners,” said Carlos Gattorno, Marabana’s general director. He mentioned that among participating countries are Germany, Spain, England, Canada, Italy, Peru, Costa Rica, Venezuela and Mexico.

Gattorno said in a press conference that training programs for the athletes are offered this year as some of the new initiatives presented by the organizing committee.

The "Marabana Marathon” will be run in a circuit across several neighborhoods of the Cuban capital and along the emblematic Malecón (seawall) of the city.

In addition to the marathon race, the competition includes other events like the “media-maraton” and stretches of 10 and 15 km. It is preceded by the “Maracuba Marathon,” which as traditionallyCommittee of Assistance to Cuba Created in Barbados
