President Raul Castro received a phone call from his Namibian counterpart Hifikepunye Lucas

In their talk, Raul expressed gratitude for the Namibian president"s concern and offered extensive information on damages caused by the meteorological events over the last 11 days, Granma newspaper reported Friday.

Referring to winds, prolonged rains, and flooding Gustav and Ike brought in a short period of time, Raul stated that a case like that had never seen before in the history of Cuba.

Raul told Pohamba of his confidence that like in other times, the Cuban people will move on with high morale and organization.

At the end of the phone call, the Namibian statesman requested his Cuban counterpart to pass on a greeting to Revolution leader Fidel Castro Ruz.
