More than fifty thousand elderly Cubans have received their diplomas as graduates from higher education

Last school year 2007-2008 matriculated around fourteen thousand new students, nine thousand of whom are graduates from previous courses, incorporated into study continuation programs.
The novel experience includes more than 400 departments and 750 university sites in every province of the country, in urban and rural zones as well as in municipalities and in the houses of the elderly.
There are more than four thousand teachers participating in the work, who come from the Association of Cuban Pedagogues as well as other specialists who offer their knowledge for free.
The courses teach topics such as information technology, sexuality, aging, the environment, alternative medicine, first aid, social communication, history, family living together, sanitary personal care, useful use of the free time, safety and social care and human development.
