The party was held at the Morro-Cabana military park,
which is an important site to the history of Havana. Two ruins mark the
fortress: El Castillo de los Tres Reyes del Morro (the Castle of the
Three Kings of El Morro), built in 1630, and the fortress of San Carlos
de la Cabaña, erected in 1774.
Both house military museums, and every night a cannon is shot off to mark 9 p.m. With its historic links to the past and spectacular view of the city, Morro-Cabana proved an ideal spot for the festivities.
FitCuba was launched with a flashy opening ceremony at the Grand Theatre of Havana, where some of Cuba’s most talented dancers gave dazzling performances.
