According to sources with the organizing committee, the event’s program
includes a retrospective of Jacques Demy’s best known films, including
‘The Umbrellas of Cherbourg’ and ‘The Young Girls Of Rochefort’.
The film series will include the screening of 19 other French feature
films, among them Claude Berri’s ‘The Two of Us’ and ‘Paris 1936’ by
Chistophe Barratier, which has not been yet premiered in France. The
Havana Charles Chaplin movie theatre will serve as the main venue of
the film series that will also be extended to 30 other Cuban citites.
The French Film Festival is an annual event, gathering thousands of
Cuban movie lovers. In 2005, more than 110,000 moviegoers crowded film
theatres islandwide.
