The novel
The piece is set in Havana during the 1960s and it tells a story on the search of love and friendship. The title comes from one of that famous Beatles song, Lucy in the sky with diamonds.

The pages of the book are filled with references to the legendary quartet from Liverpool, whose music comes out a if in a backstage in songs such as Help, Let it be and In my life.

The story ends with David and Diego sitting at a table from the Coppelia ice cream shop, a scene with which Tomás Gutiérrez Alea shot the award winning movie Strawberry and Chocolate.

Published by the Oriente editorial house, the novel will be presented in the next International Book Festival, from February 13 to March 9 around forty cities in the country.

Paz is the author of the scripts of several Spanish and Cuban movies and he is the second writer to achieve this bi-annual award, after the Argentine Tomás Eloy Martínez achieved it in 2006 for his novel El vuelo de la Reina(The flight of the Queen).
